Any consignment purchase means you have read and agree with these policies.
(SELLERS: please e-mail me for separate selling information)
THE ITEMS: The items listed on pages 4 and 5 of my site are items I have been asked to sell on consignment by individuals in the Civil War reenactment community. I have been providing this service since 1976 - first by newsletter and then on the web in 1996. All items are solely and strictly REPRODUCTION. Some items are brand new and other used. As can be seen in the listings I try to be as detailed in my descriptions as possible and post photos whenever possible. I handle all Civil War related items EXCEPT for firearms (directly).
HOLDS:
If you see something you can't live without, call or e-mail me with the ITEM NAME and ITEM NUMBER and I can put it on HOLD for you. Such holds ("sale pending") are maintained for seven (7) business days to allow time for your payment to arrive. If I do not hear from the potential buyer at the end of the seven working day hold period, the hold is removed and the item returned to active listing.PAYMENT:
Sorry, I'm not set up for credit cards, PayPal, nor do I ship C.O.D. However, money orders or personal checks are welcome. PLEASE NOTE: PERSONAL CHECKS are held TEN business (working) days to clear before item can be shipped; MONEY ORDERS allow for shipping within 24 hours after receipt. So if you're in a hurry for your item, please use a money order. Please make payment out to "STONY BROOK COMPANY". I regret that I cannot maintain credits accounts, lay-aways or partial payments on any item. The majority of sellers who utilize the consignments service do so with one sole purpose - to sell their items as promptly as possible hence first come, first served.SHIPPING: Once payment is received (and cleared in the case of checks) I will ship the item within 24 hours. I principally use PRIORITY MAIL unless the buyer specifically requests UNITED PARCEL SERVICE. Occasionally I will select UPS to ship an item if the item is exceptionally large or heavy (such as tentage, bulk purchases, etc.). Very small or very lightweight items are usually sent via FIRST CLASS MAIL. I try to calculate the best shipping option/price for the item and those shipping fees are always posted right after the item price. Shipping rates shown on these pages are for the continental United States. However, I do ship to CANADA but ask my Canadian friends to please contact me for specific shipping rates. I always combine shipping on multiple purchases for the benefit of the buyer. Finally, if any special shipping arrangement is requested (either stateside or Canada) and it incurs additional shipping fees, these are worked out with the buying customer prior to concluding the transaction.
RETURNS: Please play it safe - “If it doesn’t fit, don’t force it!”. Any item certainly may be returned SO LONG AS it has NOT been worn, altered, retailored, or abused in ANY WAY! Stony Brook Company alone will make that final determination! Some gents have asked me if this last remark is really necessary. In answer to that all I can say is "Brother, you'd be surprised what I get back sometimes!!" If any item comes back to me the same way I sent it out, a STONY BROOK COMPANY refund check will be promptly issued for the purchase price of the item itself; NOT including any shipping fees. WHEN RETURNING ANY ITEM it is a very good idea to get insurance on it for its full value! Delivery Confirmation is another a good idea! REMEMBER, I am always glad to issue a refund - but I cannot issue a refund on something I do not receive! If an INSURED item that is being returned is lost or damaged you as the sender have to file the claim with the SHIPPER (Post Office, UPS, FexEx, DHL, etc); I cannot do it from this end.
Use the "jump station index" below and at the top of Page 5 to go immediately to any specific catagory -or- simply scroll down to view all items on this page. If using the "jump station index", the item catagory clicked on will appear at the very top of the page.

GREATCOAT; C.S. FOOT PATTERN, GRAY. #DM8726 This C.S. greatcoat is an early Jarnagin item and has seen it's share of field service. Size is 38 Short. This coat has some damage/repairs in the form of two large tan wool patches on the upper right sleeve near the shoulder and two holes in the cape (one large and one small) that have been darned closed. Other than that this greatcoat is in solid and serviceable condition. Cut in the Federal foot pattern and features a standing (but non-reinforced) collar with two small hooks & eyes, five button front, six button cape, two rear adjustment belts with one-button adjustment, rear belt retainer loop, an elbow length cape, roll-back cuffs and a split and faced rear vent. The buttons on the body and rear belt are 3/4" Louisiana state seals and the smaller 1/2" buttons on the cape are flat faced plain brass livery style. All buttons are fairly new and so evidently they were sewn on not too long ago by the owner. This coat is lined to the waist in a light weight gray wool flannel and the sleeves are lined in muslin. This greatcoat is entirely machine sewn including buttonholes. It could use a dry cleaning and press (if you're so inclined :-) to step it up a notch or two. This item does not have any smells (gun powder, camp fire, etc.) but is just a little musty from being boxed up for a while (which is where the wrinkles came from).

U.S. OFFICER (or Enlistedman) FIVE BUTTON COMMERCIAL BLOUSE, #MS8758
I do believe this blouse started life as an enlistedman's private purchase commercial blouse and
was upgraded to officer duty. :-) It can be easily converted to fit other officer applications or
simply converted back to enlistedman's service by simply changing the buttons. Any questions about
this please e-mail or call me. This blouse is USED but in GREAT physical condition!
Size is 46R. May also fit size 48 depending on individuals upper build. Sleeve (arm) length
is 25" and width of back (shoulder-to-shoulder) is 19". This blouse is made
in a lightweight dark blue wool flannel and lined in brown wool flannel that has thin black and
dull orange striping. Sleeves are lined in muslin and have handfelling around the armholes. Front body
panels are cut rounded at the bottom and the coat has a rounded falling collar. Since this is a
commercial blouse it is cut just a little longer in the body than the usual U.S. issue sack coats.
There are two lower front body patch style pockets and an upper horizontal entry pocket. There is
also an internal left breast pocket. This jacket has five large (7/8") "A" buttons on the
front and three small (1/2") "A"s on each cuff. The cuff buttons are strictly decorative. The cuffs
also feature a shallow split or cuff notch. As mentioned above all the buttons can be very easily changed
out by the buyer or we can do it for the buyer here at the shop (just for the cost of buttons).
Buttonholes are HANDSEWN.. No marks or stamps. Maker unknown.

C.S. **LIGHT BLUE WOOL ROUNDABOUT. #DM5524 :
This early pattern Jarnagin CS roundabout is a size 34/36 Short. It has definitely seen
field service and exhibits a great amount of fade. However, except for the severe fade it is in
very solid condition with NO rips, tears, or damage of that sort. This jacket is made in a medium
weight wool. **I am calling this jacket SKY blue because
that is what it appears to be in areas where the fade is not so pronounced (like under the arms).
However, because the fade process could have effected the overall color there is a slim possibility
that this item was a very light or very pale gray when it was new and had just taken on this
pale sky blue-ish hue over the years. Anyway, this jacket is entirely machine sewn including button holes.
It features a standing collar (without hook & eye), plain tube style sleeves and pointed cuffs -
which along with the collar were dark blue (either French or Royal) at one time but likewise have
faded considerably. It has a nine button front, internal left breast pocket plus is lined in the
body with a fine weave osnaburg. The sleeves are lined in a ticking type material. Six piece body
and two piece sleeves. Nine 3/4" block "I" buttons on the front but none on the cuffs.

C.S. BUTTERNUT ROUNDABOUT. #PM4800 . This basic pattern size 48 Short roundabout has
been worn only a couple times so it is in EXCELLENT physical condition inside and out. The
only damage we can find to the coat is a tiny pinhole near the center back and some light areas
of fade on the body. These areas of fade are light enough that we didn't even notice it upon our
first inspection of the coat. Only after we started taking the photos did we see it. However, it
isn't anything major and certainly does not detract from the jacket. This jacket is made in a medium
weight camel colored wool. It is entirely machine sewn including buttonholes and features a standing
collar (without hook & eye), plain tube style sleeves, a six button front, internal left breast
pocket plus unbleached muslin body and sleeve linings. Save for some very very light sweat stains
right at the bottom edge of the sleeve linings at the cuffs, this jacket shows no signs of wear
whatsoever. Four piece body and one piece sleeves. Untrimmed and without epaulettes or belt loops.
There are five 7/8" flat brass North Carolina "sun burst" buttons on the front and one 7/8 inch
"CSA" replacement at the bottom.

taken care of. Size is 38 . Made in a medium weight brown wool with a hint of khaki speckle
in it. Six piece body and two piece sleeves. Untrimmed and no epaulettes or belt loops. Jacket has
a short standing collar, plain sleeves, osnaburg body lining and muslin sleeve linings. Also
present is an internal vertical entry left breast pocket. Entirely machine-sewn including the buttonholes.

PLEASE NOTE: The waist measurements on ANY trousers listed on this page are
"WAIST AT NAVEL LEVEL" (that high up). This is not necessarily the same waist size found on your
blue jean size tags. ALWAYS DOUBLE CHECK YOUR WAIST SIZE AT NAVEL LEVEL
to insure the trousers you order fit satisfactorily. Three minutes
taken to check this measurement may save you all the hassle of reboxing the trousers, the hike to
the post office or UPS to ship them back, paying shipping and insurance charges, etc. as well as
time lost if you needed the trousers in a hurry.
Therefore, please do not guess at your waist size and be careful about using jean tag sizing. If this measurement stuff gets confusing, no sweat ... call (315-343-1557) or e-mail me and we can sort it all out in short order. :-) All WAIST measurements on the trousers listed below (or found elsewhere on this site) are all with the rear waistband split TIED CLOSED. :-)

no big thing. Overall a very nice pair of scarlet red metallic gold trimmed officer's cut trousers.

UNIFORM SET: C.S. JEAN WOOL JACKET & TROUSERS. #PM3865 This lightweight dark gray jean wool uniform set (privately made by the owner) consists of a roundabout and a pair of trousers. Size is: JACKET - 48/50. TROUSERS - 42" waist x 28" length. The trousers have some very light use but the jacket is brand new, never worn. Here's a breakdown per item:
JACKET: Made in a lightweight dark gray jean wool (like a "salt & pepper" color or effect - see photos). This jacket is machine-sewn on the main seams but features hand sewn details. There is hand sewing in the arm holes (sleeve linings to body lining), hand felling along the base of the collar to body lining, hand top stitching around the jacket edges, hand top stitching around the collar and hand sewn buttonholes. Jacket also features a short standing collar without hook & eye, six 3/4" block "I" button front and a horizontal cut internal left breast pocket. Jacket is made with a 4 panel body and 2 piece sleeves. No buttons on the cuffs. Here is some additional jacket sizing information.
COLLAR: 23"
TROUSERS:
Made in a lightweight dark gray jean wool (like a "salt & pepper" color or effect - see photos).
Size is 42" waist x 28" inseam. Just to mention it there isn't enough extra fabric rolled
up in the cuffs to allow for any lengthening of the inseam. These trousers are used but in overall
GREAT SHAPE. The only problem I can find on these trousers is a small hole developing by the left
pocket (see photo in "DETAILS" set). Unbleached muslin used for pockets bags and all facings. These
trousers are unlined and are principally machine-sewn. However, they do feature hand sewn
button holes plus hand topstitching on the top entry "mule ear" pattern pockets. No watch pocket.
Rolled and hand-hemmed cuffs. Buttons are 1/2" natural bone and there are seven on the waistband
and four in the fly. These trousers also feature two rear adjustment belts with buckle.
