C.S DARK BLUE WOOL KEPI w/ SOUTH CAROLINA SIDE BUTTONS. #MM6780. This size 6 & 7/8
cap (measures 21 3/4" around the sweatband) is made in a dark blue wool broadcloth. This item
is in EXCELLENT condition with only some minor "creasing" (for lack of a better word) on the green
underlayment of the visor. The black enameled top of the visor is perfect (no cracks, creases,
folds, marring, etc.) The outer edge of the visor is bound in a black hand sewn cotton braid. Two
piece black enameled chin strap (no buckle) and two small South Carolina state seal side buttons.
Inside we have a black cotton body lining with a brown polished cotton crown liner. The hand sewn
sweatband is an oxblood color pigskin. Maker unknown but nice work.

in overall good condition. Has some moderate stains on the muslin lining and the sweatband is broken

U.S. 1861 PATTERN FORAGE CAP. #DN6653 This dark blue wool forage cap is BRAND
NEW, NEVER WORN and is a size 6 7/8 (measures 21 1/2" around the sweatband). This cap
was originally made by Don Smith of Trans Mississippi Depot some years back. It features a scalloped
cut black enameled leather visor and plain black chin strap with brass buckle. Small U.S. eagle
side buttons. Welted crown and visor. Lined in a light brown polished cotton with a 2" black
enameled hand sewn leather sweatband. On the top of the liner is a small paper label reading
"G & S. No. 5. N.Y." There is a small area along the crown welting that is a little "wavey".
Not sure what caused this but this cap has been in storage for a long time and perhaps dampness
(I'm guessing here) may have caused the fabric or the welt to loosed up a little (??) in this area
of the welt. It doesn't appear to have been resewn as far as I can tell. No biggie though.

Made out of a light gray wool flannel and
follows the pattern lines of the standard McDowell pattern cap (kinda looks like “Stonewall” Jackson’s
McDowell cap at a quick glance). This cap is in EXCELLENT physical condition with just two small
holes in the wool on the crown (see photos). Size is 7 1/4 (measures 23 1/4" around the
sweatband). Welted pasteboard crown and soft side band. Black leather visor with black chin strap
& buckle. Side buttons are small CS Staff pattern. Around the side band of the cap is a 1 3/4" dark

Made out of a rather light weight pale gray wool flannel and
stiffened inside with some type of buckram. This cap stands tall on it’s own due to the stiffener.
It is not a ridged stiffener as you can collapse the cap but it will pop back out pretty much on
it’s own. Buckram is probably used in the crown of the cap as well. The crown is welted in black
wool. This cap is in EXCELLENT ++ physical condition inside and out. Size is a 7 (measures
22 1/4" around the sweatband). Plain black leather visor with black chin strap (no buckle). Side
buttons are small U.S. general service eagles. Cap is lined in a plain black cotton and has an ox
blood (maroon) colored 1 1/2" wide leather sweatband sewn in by machine. Maker unknown.

C.S. artillery lieutenant's cap with Louisiana
side buttons (easily changed out if desired). Size is 6 & 7/8 ( measures 22" around the
sweatband). This cap appears to be a good example of a mid to late war C.S. cap as it is made out
of a wool flannel and has a painted black cotton sweat band. Fabric for the rise and crown is a madder
red (like a brick red) wool flannel and black wool broadcloth was used for the side band. Bound
leather visor - black enamel on the top and green enamel on the bottom. Side buttons are small Louisiana
"Pelican" buttons. The chin strap is a replacement but lends itself to that late war look. Like the
side buttons the chin strap can be changed out as well. Cap is quartered in a single thin strand
of metallic gold braid with a trefoil deign on the crown. Lining is a plain black cotton and the
sweatband is black painted cloth sewn in by hand. Cap has a small repair on the back at the seam

VEST; U.S. DARK BLUE WOOL. Sale Pending #WN1431: This size 40 vest has been worn and seen its share of field service. However, it has been freshly cleaned and is ready to go back into service. Does have some stains remaining on the liner - principaly from the suspender leathers but no physical damage such as rips, repairs, etc. There is a small area of fading on the inside of the collar and see photos of this when images are posted. This vest is principally machine-sewn but does have HAND SEWN button holes. With reference to button holes when this vest was originally made the seamstress put the button holes on the right side. Then realizing her mistake she sewed these closed and put them on the left side (the correct side for gentlemen). The eagle buttons are sewn over these closed button holes so it they are not all that noticeable - and certainly not visible when the vest is buttoned up and being worn. Meantime, the usual features are present - standing collar, three vest pattern pockets, nine small U.S. eagle buttons on the front, a muslin lining, dark brown cotton back and two rear adjustment belts with buckle. Now on these belts, this vest was made for an individual with a small waist so there is a 4" gap (see photos when posted) between the buckle and then end of the receiving belt when the two are disconnected from each other. So when buckled and the belts set at their maximum extended capacity, this vest will fit a gentleman with a 34 to 35" waist. However, replacing (or removing altogether) the belts will add 4" to the vests waist size. The current buckle can be reused if you make new belts but it would benefit from a little steel wool work. Here again, see photos when posted. Lastly the names of the two previous owners are written in script on the lining (looks period). Photos up soon. Privately made.

blue wool and lined in white cotton. The best backing is black cotton as are the two rear belts.
No adjustment buckle on the rear belts. Also featured are nine 1/2" U.S. eagles down the front,

RED KNIT WOOL BATTLE SHIRT: #SF3761. This BRAND NEW, NEVER WORN wool shirt will fit an individual with up to a 48" chest and who wears men's "TALL" clothing. It has a 19 1/2" collar and a 37" sleeve (as measured from the center of the back of the neck, over the shoulder and down to the cuff). Made in a lightweight knitted red wool from Family Heir-Loom Weavers and is cut in your basic "cut-on-the-square" patterning. This shirt features a stand & fall pattern collar with one button closure, 3-button front plaquet, 1 button cuffs, over-the-shoulder reinforcements, underarm gussets and side seam splits. This shirt is machine sewn (with matching red thread) on the main seams but has an EXTENSIVE amount of hand sewing present. In addition to hand sewn button holes ALL body and sleeve seams are rolled and hand felled, the shoulder reinforcements are sewn on by hand, the collar and front plaquets are hand felled and the shirt is also hand hemmed. Reinforcement patches are at the cuff and side seam splits (all hand felled of course). All work VERY NICELY/VERY PROFESSIONALLY done! The 1/2" buttons are white glass. With reference to the cuff buttons (and cuffs button holes) they are set back deep on the cuff (near the cuff split) which is period correct. This allows the cuff to be folded back on itself. C.S. BROWN WOOL BATTLE SHIRT: #MM5518. This BRAND NEW, NEVER WORN shirt will fit an
individual with up to a 40" chest. Collar measures 17" - 17 1/2" and the sleeves are 34" (as measured
from the center of the back of the neck, over the shoulder and down to the cuff). Made in a light
weight (8 oz) medium brown wool flannel and trimmed with 1/2" black wool twill tape around the front
plaquet and collar. This black tape is from Wooded Hamlet and sewn on by hand. Falling pattern
collar w/ one button closure, three button front plaquet and gathered cuffs w/ one button per.
Buttons are 5/8" coin style in white metal (could be pewter?). This shirt is machine sewn on the
main seams but all seam edges in both the body and sleeves have been HAND FELLED. Bottom hem of
the shirt is hand hemmed as well as are the underarm gussets, front plaquets, side seam splits

DOMET FLANNEL ISSUE SHIRT; SMALL SOLD! #JR3436.
FRENCH PAINTED LINEN PACK: ACW5562. Based on examples in the collection at the Atlanta History Center and an example in the private collection of Mr. Brian White of W.W and Co. Pack is coated with period recipe paint. Lined throughout with a tight woven jute burlap type material per the original in Mr. Whites collection. The main flap and body are trimmed with blackened buff leather, the actual straps and chapes are blackened flesh side out. Raw iron hardware is used throughout and is hand sewn as were the originals, with the body being machine sewn as originally manufactured. The frame is of rough cut pine. The pack comes with two blanket roll straps of twenty eight inches and a Grand strap of fifty two inches. Also available the French "Gamelle" messkit to compliment this and our French Hide Covered version. Made by American Civil War Knapsacks.

C.S. "MOSES ALEXANDER" PATTERN HAVERSACK. #SF1549 . Here's an all machine sewn copy of the
Moses Alexander haversack. Cotton drill body and short carrying strap. This haversack has
been dyed with tea to darken it slightly. Currently has a white plastic button and machine sewn
button hole. However, replacing the button with bone or wood and going over the button hole by hand
would be a nice (and very easy) upgrade to this item. This haversack has never been to the field
and thus remains in EXCELLENT++ condition. Perfectly clean inside and out.

CARTRIDGE BOX; "Confederate Field Altered". #JR5299. In the words of the seller this is a
"Confederate Field Altered Cartridge Box". Basically this is a U.S. .58 caliber cartridge box with
the main cover and the shoulder sling buckles and tabs cut off. The inner cover now serves as the
cover and a strip of black leather (with hole for the finial) has been hand sewn on to close the
inner cover. This box now slings on to the waistbelt. I believe the box was brand new when these
alteration were done - and did not see a lot of service after the alterations were performed -
since it is in really nice overall condition. Comes with two tins. These tins are not identical
(there are some very slight dimensional differences) and they are in "average" condition.
One has a good bit of rust on it. The original maker of the box is unknown.

Made by Traveling Man's Emporium this belt was crafted from a leather
cartridge box sling. At maximum outward adjustment we have 41" and at minimum inward adjustment
we have 35". Made in a brown leather (with a natural colored back) this belt has a tapered billet
that connects to a machine-stitched small black steel roller buckle. There is a small leather
belt loop sewn on behind the buckle to catch the billet adjustment end. The other side of this
