NEW LISTING U.S. HARDEE HAT w/ TRIMMINGS: Size 7 1/8. #JL7250. This Tim Bender made BRAND NEW NEVER WORN size 7 1/8 (measures 22“ around the sweatband) Hardee hat has worked on to “step-up” the accuracy of the hat all round. The hat body (a black fur/felt mix) has been gone over with a pill shaver to remove excess nap. Next the hat was sent out to install a hand sewn 2 1/2” wide Ox blood color leather sweatband. This work was also done by a professional hat maker. Next the owner added original relic hat brass – an infantry horn, Hardee hat side eagle and the letter “H”. He finished the upgrades with an original infantry wool hat cord. If we may air an opinion here, given all the upgrades this hat would make a GREAT display item among equally high end repros or even among original relic pieces where you need a “high caliber / as-authentic-as-possible” Hardee hat to round out the display. That or reserved strictly for reenactment dress purposes. Kind of a shame to take this Hardee hat to the field and beat it up given all the work done to make it killer-accurate. Comes with a period correct black w/ gold print Army hat label. Measures 5 5/8” high with a 3” double stitched brim.

tiny holes on the crown and body (see photos) plus some light stains on the lining. However, other
that it’s still in solid condition all round. The cap is made in a light weight wool flannel (scarlet
red rise & crown plus dark blue sideband) and has a small blue check cotton shirting liner. The single
thickness leather visor is dyed black (no enameling) and there is no chin strap. The small decorative
side buttons are dark colored wood. The sweatband is hand sewn brown leather.

There is a very tiny ding or mark on the edge of the visor but this is quite minor. No insignia has
ever been attached so there are no punched holes or stitch marks in the crown or on the body. This
cap features a black leather visor & chin strap w/ brass buckle, two U.S. eagle side buttons, a
black cotton Silesia lining plus a knurled finish black leather handsewn sweatband. An L.J. & I.

C.S. CHASSEUR PATTERN JEAN WOOL CAP.INFANTRY. #BC2866. Maker unknown on this BRAND NEW NEVER WORN “campaigner grade” Confederate infantry cap. Size is 7 1/2 (measures 23 1/4“ around the sweatband). This cap is made in the low cut (approx. 4” tall from the bottom of the side band to the tallest point in the back) rakish Chasseur style. Just to mention it low cut chasseur caps ride higher up on the head than regular cut kepis.
Made from a tightly woven mixed gray & black jean wool from Family Heir-Loom Weavers and features
a muted dark blue (not as dark as Navy blue but more a lighter shade of indigo dark blue) 1 1/4”
wide side band, a single thickness black enameled visor, small stamped brass block “I” side buttons
and a single thickness (decorative) black leather chin strap. Inside we have a green/white/muted
red striped cotton shirting lining and a 1 1/2" wide natural colored leather (pig skin we do believe)
hand sewn sweatband. There is a small discolored area on the leather sweatband in the forehead
area. However, this is a blemish in the leather itself and not damage sustained after the cap was
made (see photos). Maker unknown but a nice job all round.

14th BROOKLYN / C.S. ARTILLERY KEPI. #KJ1484. Just in is this BRAND NEW NEVER WORN Dirty Billy made red & blue wool kepi. This cap
is a copy of the 14th New York State Militia ("14th Brooklyn") cap but given its color combination
(dark blue sideband & crown w/ a red body (rise), it will also work for Confederate artillery (as
evidenced in Echoes Of Glory/Confederacy). Size is 7 3/4 (measures
23 1/2" around the sweatband). This cap features a black enameled two-piece bound leather visor,
two-piece adjustable black enameled chin strap (no buckle as per originals), two small N.Y. state
seal side buttons (easily changed out), a black enameled hand sewn sweatband and a brown polished
cotton lining. This cap has the numerals "14" on the front but they are easily removed. There is

U.S. DARK BLUE WOOL VEST. #BC4800. This size 48 U.S. dark blue wool vest has been used and there is a fair amount of fading on the brown cotton backing and rear adjustment belts. No major fading on the wool front but it is evident on the brown backing and rear belts. There is also some of the usual wear around the edge of the collar. This vest originally came from sutlers row and the seller made an effort upgrade it a little by picking out the machine sewn button holes and adding hand sewn ones. Inside there are two sewn repairs running the length of the side seams from under the arm down to the waist. See photos when posted) Also, since this is a used vest a trip to the dry cleaners (although not mandatory) would step this item up a bit.
This vest is made from a lightweight dark blue wool flannel and features a short standing collar, three front vest pockets (two lower and one upper), nine BRAND NEW small U.S. eagle buttons down the front ( the seller added these new buttons before sending this vest in) and two rear adjustment belts with a brass two tine buckle. U.S. 1857 ACCOUTREMENT SET. Sale Pending #MC5758. Made by Missouri Boot & Shoe this Federal accoutrement set has been used but all the pieces remains in great condition. This set has been very well taken care of, cleaned and oiled often. The set consists of a .58 caliber pattern 1857 cartridge box w/ tins & box plate, a shoulder belt w/ circular eagle plate; an 1850 pattern cap box; and a waist belt w/ brass keeper & 1855 pattern U.S. “puppy paw" plate. The shoulder belt is currently NOT attached to the box as each piece in this set is wrapped separately. No biggie though to attach the box belt to the box and adjust it to length.
Here’s the breakdown per piece:
. . . .CARTRIDGE BOX: .58 caliber box complete w/ 1855 pattern circular box plate attached via a leather strip. Has the usual light surface dings and bumps but no major gashes
and the like. The inside implement pouch cover and tab are in fine shape. Roller black painted buckles are good to go. The tins are solid and intact but have some corrosion in
the lower ammunition pack compartments. However, that should clean up (a little anyway) with some elbow grease, course steel wool and a little patience. A nice box overall.

U.S. SOFTPACK w/ WOODEN FRAME: #BC2765. This C & D Jarnagin made 1853/1855 U.S. double bag knapsack has been to the field and has some scattered light surface wear to the painted finish. The corners seem to have the most of it (see photo) but these corners can be easily touched up with a little flat black paint. Other than that this pack is in very solid condition all around, all the hardware is present and in great shape and all stitches are tight on both the bag as well as on all the leather pieces. Accompanying this bag is a tongue-and-groove wooden frame which was carefully disassembled by the owner when he sent the pack in. The small brass nails are still present in the wood so this frame should be able to be reassembled without any problems. There was a wooden stick accompanying the frame pieces. I wasn't sure what it's purpose was for but an old customer e-mailed me and filled me in -
"The stick goes in the straps on top of the pack when there is a blanket roll or greatcoat rolled and strapped on top. It helps the roll to stay in place and ride correctly."
To that I say - Thank you Kevin! :-)
This stick will of course accompany the pack and the new owner can decide if he want to use it or not.

BRITISH ENFIELD ACCOUTREMENT SET. #GW5770. This British Enfield accoutrement set consists of an ENFIELD CARTRIDGE BOX, CAP BOX, BAYONET FROG, and BLACK LEATHER BELT w/ SNAKE BUCKLE. This set has been to the field but is still in solid serviceable condition. All pieces are from sutlers row. Here’s the breakdown per item:
ENFIELD CARTRIDGE BOX: Made in black leather but with a white leather closing tab. Used but in solid condition. The cover has some wrinkles but no box
damage (meaning no rips, tears, scars, repairs, etc). Has the usual small dings and some light surface scratches but absolutely nothing major. There
is some light rust on the two bottom roller buckles most of which should come off with a small brass or wire brush and/or some steel wool work. No tins
and no sling. Oh yes, just to mention it, if you wet the cover pretty good and then lay it flat with something heavy on it, once dry that should take out
a good portion of the wrinkle.
ENFIELD CAP POUCH: Black leather sling mounted (NOT belt mounted) cap pouch. Used
but in nice condition. Has inside fleece.
ENFIELD BAYONET FROG: Made in black leather. Used but in nice shape. Has a nickel plated
buckle on a small strap for securing the scabbard throat.
WAIST BELT w/ SNAKE BUCKLE: Made in black leather and has a cast brass snake buckle. Used but still very serviceable. At some point two holes were
punched in the belt but we don’t know what purpose that was for (see photos when posted). Has a wide black leather tab behind the buckle element to protect
the jacket from the buckle. This belt measures in at 1 5/8” wide and has a very wide range of waist adjustment - from very small to over 55". Just to
mention it, this belt relies on friction from one of the belt retainer loops to hold its adjustment. However, this is prone to slipping easily. Therfore,
we would recommend setting the length where it works for you and them have it sewn in place by someone with a leather awl or sewing machine that sews leather.
That or you can get one of those “Adjusting Hook For NCO or Officers Belt” kits from Regimental Quartermaster for about $2.50 (plus shipping), attach
that, punch in a couple holes in the belt for adjustment and you’re ready to roll – secure AND adjustable whereas sewing would be permanently set without
adjustment. Either way, just a suggestion.

SNARE DRUM. #BC5584. Made by the Florance Drum Company of Honesdale, Pennsylvania this drum has been to the field and has some scratches and wear on the shell and hoops. There are also some light dirt marks on the rope elements. With a little care and a small sudsy brush (like an old toothbrush) most of this should clean off. This drum is very solid though and all parts intact. Please check out all the photos closely for the best idea of this drums condition. This drum measures 14 3/4” tall x 13 3/4“ in diameter and features a golden oak shell, red hoops, dark brown ears and a Civil War screw style strainer. It is NOT embellished with any hand-painted motifs nor does it have any tack designs. The head is "Fiberskyn” for better stability in high humidity and bad weather. Take a close look at the photo showing this drum head as it does have some “wrinkles” in it. I’m not a musician so my descriptive terminology for this is way off I’m sure. The bottom clear element has some dings in it but it remains solid and intact. The ropes are synthetic (to also avoid problems during climate change) but are hard to tell from natural fiber one unless examined very closely. There is a small carrying device attached to the side but the drum does NOT come with a sling nor drum sticks (see listing below for STICKS). The plate can be changed of course but that would be the job for someone with leather sewing tools and skills. But as it is with the circular US plate, it can work for US or CS early war.
This saber belt was used a few times then went into storage and has remained there for a while.
The brass pieces have a patina from age but should polish up nicely (if you’re so inclined) with
a little time spent on the job. This belt measures in with a 49” waist (counting the plate). There
is only one hole in the belt for the adjustment hook (given that this belt was custom made and fitted
to the current owner). However, more holes can be punched in (by the new owner) for a wide range
of adjustment. The sabers hangers are adjustable via brass center bar buckles but there are no
snap swivels on the ends (probably came that way by design). There is no “over-the-shoulder”
(Sam Browne) strap (again, probably by design).

CARTRIDGE BOX w/ SLING. #BC2827. Made by C & D Jarnagin this black leather .58 caliber box has seen service but remains in solid serviceable
condition. A little cleaning should step it up a bit. No plates and never had any. Comes with shoulder
belt (sling) and has a set of tins. The tins are pretty tight in the box which is why we could not
pull ’em out for a full photo. This box is stamped on the lower front corner “J R MYERS, US ORD
DEPT INSPECTOR”. This may (??) have been added at some point in the boxs travels as we did not
find this particular stamp among those used by C & D. A nice touch nonetheless. Accompanying this
cartridge box is a well used but solid and intact black leather cap box. This cap box is NOT a
Jarnagin product and probably from sutler row.

BLACK LEATHER SABER FROG. #NC7822.
This black leather saber frock is in generally nice shape overall but there is a small area at
the top that has a slight scalloped cut to it. The owner did this to evidently get a better fit
on the saber hilt. Still in very solid serviceable condition.

TELESCOPE. #NC1699. This nickel plated collapsible telescope has been used but remains in
very good condition. The lenses are in great shape but it is hard to make a power determination
(2x, 5x, 10x etc.). It is a relatively low powered scope compared to modern telescopes but certainly
enough magnification to see who’s on the skirmish line across from you. :-) Measures 15 ¼” long
when fully extended and 6” when collapsed for storage. Comes with front lens cap but no bag or

KNIFE/FORK/SPOON COMBO. #BC2877. This k/f/s combo was used only a couple times and then just lived in the haversack for a long time. Thus it remains is in excellent condition all round. This is a two-piece item (the knife element detaches as a separate utensil) consisting of a steel knife, two tine fork and a nice size spoon. Walnut handle. All mechanics work fine. The knife does have an edge to it but far from what would be considered “really sharp” (probably the original factory edge). So the knife element could use a sharpening if you’re really going to use it.
