Due to the numerous requests I receive for purchases of fabrics by the yard I have elected to list what I have here in the shop. Occasionally I am temporarily "out-of-stock"on a color or two so please call or e-mail to check on current availability. Ten percent (10%) discount available on all fabric purchases of twenty (20) yards or more.

If you wish to see a sample of any of the fabrics on hand just let me know and I'll mail you a swatch for your inspection at no charge. Getting a sample is ALWAYS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as it saves "surprises" when you open the box.

              By popular request I have reduced the minimum yardage requirement from one yard down to
              one-half yard ($10.25 per 1/2 yard) on my SKR WOOL BLEND (85-15%) series woolens.

FABRIC: MEDIUM SKY BLUE WOOL, #SKR270: We use this fabric occasionally for officers trousers and private purchase enlistedmen's trousers where a slighty darker shade of sky blue is needed. Naturally it will also work for a darker shade of Federal sky blue enlisted trousers and greatcoats (of which there were a great many). This fabric loomed by Woolrich Woolen Mills. FABRIC: DARK BLUE WOOL FLANNEL, #SKR9223: A lightweight weighs 11 oz per yard) dark blue WOOL FLANNEL in 100% virgin wool. It is NOT dark Navy blue (midnight blue) but a rich blue color a little lighter in shade than Navy. I will have a comparison photo up soon. Great for wool flannel shirts, coat liners and Federal sack coat work. Lightly napped and does NOT have the course diagonal or twilled weave effect. Measures 58"/60" wide (unfolded). FABRIC: JEAN CLOTH #JC283: This excellent quality BROWN (with a touch of grey) jean is 76% wool and 24% cotton. It measures 60" wide and weighs 22 ounce per linear yard (nice and durable). The yarn used in looming this jean cloth is commercially dyed.

FABRIC: COTTON DRILL #CD409: This excellent quality unbleached 8.25 oz cotton drill is a tightly woven fabric and measures 39 3/4" wide (selvage to selvage) on the bolt. ONE-HALF YARD MINIMUM CUT. Free swatch available upon request (and always highly recommended). No returns once fabric is cut so please be sure of your yardage requirement. This cotton is not a sponged (preshrunk) fabric. DARK BLUE COTTON THREAD: This 100% natural cotton thread is put up on 6,000 yard industrial sized cones. It is a heavier gauge cotton thread, #T-70 by industry standards. This is NOT the carpet and buttonhole thread that you buy downtown. While it certainly can be used for buttonholes this thread is used primarilly for regular sewing. It is manufactured by well known thread manufacturer, COATS, Inc. (of COATS & CLARK fame). Color is a MEDIUM shade of dark blue and it is commercially dyed. We picked this color as it's a fairly close match to a thread color we saw used on a pair of original Federal trousers. Just to mention it, we've seen thread color in Federal trousers run from deep indigo blue to samples as light as what could be called "cadet grey". We used to use this thread in our former production 100% wool museum grade trousers. PLEASE NOTE As mentioned above this thread is 100% natural cotton and has good strength. HOWEVER, please do not expect this thread to act like 100% rayon or 100% nylon thread. Size for size synthetic threads have about double the tensile strength of comparable sized (thickness or gauge) 100% natural cotton threads. Just a word to the wise.
