We have been requested by a number of folks to make a civilian pattern trouser and as a result we present this page.

GRADE:   Our civilian type trousers are manufactured in our "MUSEUM GRADE" standard only (and in Woolrich wool as mentioned above). We will not be making these trousers in a "Commercial Grade" standard.

PATTERNING   These trousers follow a generic pattern based on lines and construction details I have seen on relic Civil War era civilian trousers. There are numerous types of patterning found in original CW era civilian trousers and our repros follow the more generic lines and style.

CONSTRUCTION:   These trousers are machine sewn on all main seams but feature hand sewing on the waistband, pocket and fly facings, hand felled cuffs and hand sewn buttonholes. Main pockets are the standard SIDE SEAM pattern pocket. Options include choice of wool color, type of watch pocket, a rear adjustment belt option, choice of internal cotton color (on pockets and waistband facings), a button choice of natural bone or black stipple faced tin, and an upper back panel lining option.

CONFEDERATE SERVICE:   Historically, civilian trousers certainly saw very wide service in the Confederate armies. In that regard then these trousers will work fine. Basically, trousers manufactured by Confederate depots were simply civilian patterning devoid of any of the finery usually associated with regular civilian trousers. However, we kindly advise our Confederate reenactor friends to check with their unit command authority to insure our repros will will work within the uniform regulations of their particular unit. So play it safe and check with your unit command to see if these trousers are acceptable prior to making any purchase.
